to soothe, to strengthen: an herbal medicine workshop
was held at General Sisters in North Braddock, PA. The workshop centered around apple mint and stinging nettle, two of the garden's most abundant herbs. Participants sipped tea and vinegar made from the plants as they learned about chemistry & energetics of apple mint and stinging nettle. Participants were led through a reflection guide inspired by the two herbs and their actions within the body. The guides were later folded into envelopes to allow participants to take the dried herbs with them.
After the workshop, envelopes of the apple mint & stinging nettle tea blend were mailed out to folks across the United States in return for a donation to Just Harvest, a Pennsylvania organization that works promote a just system of food access by addressing the root causes of hunger – systemic poverty and inequity – through policy advocacy, grassroots organizing, community-based solutions, and connecting people to benefits.
